Pinch the Clouds
Background: My 10-year-old student from China, who is learning English from me, said something so poetic that I had to expand it into a proper poem: “Pinch the clouds to see if they were soft”.
Pinch the clouds
If angel’s wings were granted to me,
I would pinch the clouds
To see if they were soft
And I would collect the sun rays
To see your eyes sparkle.
But I’m denied the levitation,
So I promenade with you
On a hot summer’s day
The bougainvillea in full bloom
Trading laughter and smiles.
