Background: A little poem inspired by a LinkedIn friend (Kah Fui) who wrote these two lines in a comment: “The forgotten book on a nostalgic book rack. Wonder how long it was left untouched, unchecked.” I took it and I ran away with it.
Forgotten
The forgotten book on a nostalgic rack -
How long, I wonder, has it been left unchecked?
Pearls of words lie hidden, still unread
Dreams furled up where silence treads.
I wish it weren't so, but the book is me,
Abandoned, shelved in obscurity;
Will this heart be found - will someone see?
Will I someday be made a priority?
From the dusty shelf, I lift the tome,
On a whim, on a fancy, I carry it home.
Through the yellowed pages, its soul breaks free -
And I wonder if maybe there's hope for me.
Thank you for spending a bit of time reading my poetry. It means a lot to me. 🩷
