Echoes of Loss and Life
Cemeteries remind us of those we have lost: a light snuffed out, the end of whispery breaths in the darkness. In my mind’s eye, they are a fervent reminder to seize the day. The timing of my final departure is unknown - in which case I should swiftly grasp the opportunities to live a full life. It is in the little moments: sharing inside jokes with family, creating new footsteps in unfamiliar terrain, picking up the basics of pickleball, the soft gurgles of a baby as you play peekaboo with him. And so, while the end is a mystery, I aim to splendour in the here and now: holding onto the moments before they slip through my fingers like grains of sand on the beach.
