Before There is a We
Background: A little prose poem inspired by a LinkedIn friend (Linette) who wrote a post about loving yourself first before loving someone else.
Before There is a “We”
Before I can love another person, I must love myself first. Before there is a "we", there is a me - and like a rose plant, faithfully watered by the gardener, the me is to be gently nurtured. Just as the shepherd feeds his flock of sheep, I pour time, kindness, and understanding into the cup of my heart. The bedrock of a healthy partnership is the acceptance of my flowers and my thorns.
Thank you for spending a bit of time reading my poetry. It means a lot to me. 🩷
I only just started the “Me- first” a few months back.
